Autism Intervention Trust

The trust has identified a need for training about autism, and caring for children with autism, for parents, caregivers, teachers and teacher aides.

Training available

When the trust was first set up, there was very little training available about autism. In the past, the trust has arranged training seminars. More recently, two trust members have set up Creating Success, an organisation that arranges training seminars. Thanks to their efforts, a variety of training seminars are now available in several cities in New Zealand. The trust recommends anyone seeking training to take advantage of their services. For details, see the Creating Success web site.

Funding for training

The trust raises funds for training, and uses that money to pay for places at training seminars for people who are looking after autistic children. The funding is principally targeted at parents, caregivers and teacher aides looking after children in trust member families. At times some funding is available for training for teachers, but as there are other sources of funding for teacher training, this has a lower priority than funding carers with no other funding available.
